Recently, John Banovich has added his talents to Beacon Studios Inc. to produce noteworthy corporate projects together with the Beacon Team.
John Banovich, csc, BFM, is an international award winning Director, Cinematographer and Writer, having received numerous Telly, Aurora, Summit and Gallant awards for his directing of various Documentaries and TV Commercials as well as several for his cinematography in HD, 35mm and 16mm.
He got his start as an actor, performing on Vancouver TV Series, most
notable Booker P.I. along with several B-movies, while studying computer
science at college and university. After completing this stage of his
post secondary education, he started taking part time classes at a film
school and bought his first camera, an Arriflex 16mm. He took his camera
and a bit of film, and headed off into the temporal rain forests of British
Columbia to shoot wild life. John worked hard for many years, working
in various roles through out the industry, learning everything he could
along the way. He is a full member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers
and a Director of Photography with IATSE local 669, professional photographers
union.
John's list of feature films, TV series & commercials, documentaries and music videos is extensive. He has a true passion for his craft, which can easily be seen in his work and has a very strong dramatic execution in his feature film, TV series and commercial materials. He has acquired over thirteen years of experience working as an actor, director, cinematographer, and writer in this industry.
There is another side to John Banovich which most people are unaware of.
He has been working in the community with a variety of charity and non-profit
organizations for many years. He has sat on the board of directors at
the Salvation Army Youth Center for eight years and has shot a TV commercial
for them. John has worked with the Children's Miracle Network Telethon
for several years and shot a TV commercial with the help of Remax Realty
for them as well. He has been very active with Mothers Against Drunk Driving
(MADD) for many years, talking in high schools and writing/producing numerous
TV commercials. John has also worked as a youth leader in his local community
of White Rock. He is currently developing a made for TV movie about drinking
and driving, and hopes it will have a very strong influence on his audience.
